In October, I announced that we had received the results of the state’s first comprehensive workforce survey and the results of that survey were being used to develop a statewide multi-year action plan that would not only implement changes in how we run our operations, but also how we work together every day for the citizens of Missouri. Since that time, members of the DIFP staff have been working on our department’s strategic priorities. Our plan, along with those of the other state agencies’, will be released publicly today.
The plan, referred to as our “Placemat”, contains our departmental aspiration statement, our four theme areas, and the individual initiatives which support each of those themes:

Many of you are already aware of these priorities or projects related to them and have been working on them for some time. You will recognize many of the priorities as they are already underway and progress has already been made. However, I want to ensure that everyone in the department is informed, involved and invested moving forward. In the coming days and weeks, your division directors and managers will be having more in-depth discussions with you regarding your role in these initiatives.
Each of the initiatives will be assigned to staff members who will help manage these projects for our department. This is intended not only to address the need for specific areas of expertise, but also to involve our staff directly in this process. We are placing our trust in you to carry out these responsibilities.
A critical component of our strategic priorities is the collection of data that will help us provide metrics for tracking our progress. We must be able to identify key milestones and show we are accomplishing our goals.
