DSV Alvin and Evolution of the Submarine
The beginning of exploration of earth’s oceans happened many centuries back. It started as simply diving in and seeing what the eye could see and going as deep as the body could go, and as time went on, exploration evolved. Instead of a simple dive into the depth, technology that would allow the human to stay underwater for longer amounts of time was created, the oxygen tank was invented and it was a breakthrough in exploration at the time. While the oxygen tank was very helpful, scientists and people alike wanted more than just a small tank, scientist wanted a vessel that could not only explore further, longer, and deeper, but something that could allow them to pick up data and see every inch of the ocean. It was then, in 1620A.D that the first practical submarine was invented by Cornelis Drebbel,

It was simply a glass chamber that was lowered into the water by boat men and brought up hours later. The vessel opened up a whole new world of capabilities to scientists, people and anyone that found the mass body of water on our earth fascinating. While is wasn’t until the 1900’s that it could be engineered to go to the ocean floor, it still allowed scientists to venture deep into the ocean and analyze data, and find new species that had never been seen or heard of before. Tests were experimented with, and grabbing specimen to analyze for information was used to see the world below the water's surface. Fast forward to 1776, the world's first military submarine was crafted and tested, using bullet proof casing with ballistic missiles and ways to track the ocean floor, these were used in
