Love. A noun, as defined by the dictionary, meaning profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person or a sexual passion or desire. Love. Is that what it actually means? Profoundly tender and passionate affection doesn’t come close to what love is, and a sexual passion or desire isn’t love, to me that is lust. Love feels much more than a word, so much more than a short definition from the dictionary. Love feels like waking up on a Sunday morning and taking that first sip from you coffee mug. It’s wrapping your hands around the mug and letting it warm you. Love is smelling its rich aroma of soft cocoa and roasted nuts with a hint of vanilla and taking that first familiar sip and smiling. It’s slowly slipping into a dream as you’re engulfed by the sound rain that drowns out all of the stress from the day. Even though your room is cold, you are safely tucked away under your blankets. Love feels like seeing him for the first time in study hall and getting butterflies in your stomach. You can’t look at him with smiling a little bit and getting slightly embarrassed. You can feel your cheeks turning bright red, but you can’t seem to look away. Love feels like having that first meaningless conversation with him but being so happy because he finally noticed you. You didn’t say much just nodded to him in response because you had to many butterflies in your stomach to say anything. You go home that day and can barely remember what you talked about because you were too nervous to say much and your heart was beating a mile a minute.
