The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the word lust as a strong feeling of sexual desire. Some believe that it means a strong desire for something. Overall, lust has the same meaning worldwide. Lust starts as a want. It then grows into something more. It turns into an obsession, then turning into lust.
The word lust has been around for a long time. Some people believe there was a trace of lust back in Adam and Eve, and the Original sin being the first sign of lust. Lust can mean solely sexual things, but it doesn't mean that all the time. Of course, there is lust for other things as well. People can have lust for money, food, cars, etc. Lust has a tie into the seven deadly sins. These sins say that many bad things will happen when you have lust. It is a huge symbol of relationships. Many religions look at lust to be an inappropriate desire or a thought that is inappropriately strong. In the New Testament of the bible it says “...that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.” The term list has come from this place. Here, it is associated with sexual desire which is wrong in Christianity until a certain point. In a book called “Red Light Districts” the author discusses the real meaning of prostitution and that prostitutes proper use was to please unmarried men with lust. In this book, the would lust is seen to be a good thing. By using prostitutes in this book, it shows lusting is helping men release frustration. In the famous play Romeo and Juliet, the two characters are in lust rather than love. They met two hours before they decided to get married and never learned each other's names. They both are hormone-driven teenagers which causes them to only like each other for their looks and not about anything
