20% of Americans say they are living in the American dream. Why is that? My definition of the American dream is to achieve the highest amount of happiness in your life as a U.S. citizen. To most the definition of the American dream for most is the equal opportunity to achieve the most happiness in America. If everyone has an equal opportunity why are only 20% of people are saying they can achieve the American dream? What is the cause of people not achieving the American dream? Is it economic problems, where you were born or live in, could it be just your mindset? People would say the American dream is dead. The truth, it is alive. Things that achieve the American dream would be having a successful career. Another would be your economic standpoint. The way you think or mindset is big. Where you're born and raised at affects the way you achieve the American dream. All these could be right in their own single scenarios, but the fact is that one that is right for almost all scenarios is the mindset.
