Be yourself. Society preaches it`s ok not to follow the crowd, but when we move against the grain we are suddenly out cast. By definition conformity is compliance with the rules.Conformity is also behavior according to the socially accepted standards. Does this mean we as a society are ok with the idea that we must all be the same in order to be “cool” . People believe that everyone has to accept them before they can accept themselves. Emerson states that, “No law can be sacred to me but that of my nature.”(Emmerson 20) To me this means that I cannot follow the rules unless they rein true to me in my heart, soul, body, and mind. The date may have changed, but our routines have not. Everyone is still rushing off to work and rushing home squeeze in a workout grab a bite to eat then start the whole thing over again. Day after day people continue to go go go there's no time for breaks time is money! Where is the joy? People begin to forget that life is a gift a precious gift one must hold very dear. Once the stress, work, and expectations are stripped away who do you become? Do you still live by your values? Are you chasing your dreams? Let us live deliberately make our time here on earth count for something more than reaching the bottom line. Enjoy the little things in life all the aspects it has to offer us. If we can tie ourselves back to nature, back to a simple slower pace life. Caring about what matters and forgetting what does not we will become who we are meant to be each as our own
