Happiness: the single most widespread objective throughout society. People of all ages dream to one day be truly happy. Whether that means being rich, finding love, or having 12 cats all for yourself, most believe it to be the true purpose of life. However, all this time we have been mislabeling it: we think we are chasing happiness when really, we are chasing satisfaction. Consequently, people who have lower expectations have an easier time achieving this satisfaction and therefore a so called “happiness”.
Not many achieve happiness in their lifetime. Either they do not live long enough to witness it or they are not prepared for what their happiness is. Happiness is very subjective. Each person’s version of happiness is different. This version of happiness is universal.
The Pursuit of Happiness It is a fundamental aspect of society and of mankind that individuals seek their own happiness. Almost every aspect of life centres on the importance of self-fulfillment, and throughout history, the often selfish nature of man loans itself to the idea that life is about pursuing one’s own happiness. In a perfect world, the search for satisfaction in life would go unheeded, and every man would come to realize a perfect sense of self. Unfortunately, there are often many challenges and compromising aspects of society that inhibit individuals from achieving happiness.
The article “Happiness Science” shows clear and understandable science about happiness. The author claims that there are three parts to happiness: pleasure, engagement, and meaning. However, pleasure on contributes a small portion, 10%, to our happiness. On the other hand, the article claims that half of our happiness is genetically engineered. It says that the remaining portion is of our own control.
In now days, many people do not know what does the word “happiness” means or feels, some people may think it is when they are in a good mood or when something happens and they feel very good about it. Aristotle said: "Every man has a right to be happy because happiness lies in the leisure spirit.” To get there people must have pass through a bad time or situation because happiness is where there is virtue and true effort, because life is not a game. Being honest, I had never seen happiness from a point of view as clear as Aristotle did. Happiness is a subject that has preoccupied man since its inception, and in the same way, to philosophy.
Is happiness something that can be achieved easily or those it requires effort? Everyone in the world has claimed to be happy at some point in time, but they are truly happy or are they just saying what you what to hear, however, everyone has experienced happiness in one point in their lives but the only difference is that you may not have noticed it when it happened. Many people have tried to understand the concept of happiness, but only a few can grasp it. Aristotle tries to shed a new light on the meaning of happiness and change how we think about it in our everyday lives. Happiness once found creates a sensation that cannot be described to others, but it can be seen clearly be others.
