Today’s society has developed different views of what the word happiness truly means. In the dictionary, happiness is described as a state of feeling pleasure or contentment. The Bible defines happiness as being guided by God, suffering for the sake of righteousness, and being reproached for the name of Christ. Philosophy believes that happiness is a state of mind that has a life that is going well for the one leading it. However, happiness has become altered to be defined by social media and judgements people make of one person because happiness isn’t seen as what one enjoys anymore, but instead as what one has. The word happiness has developed to many different meanings throughout the years it has been around. The word “happy” developed in the early 14th century in the European nations. Judgement is not only seen on social media, but also in person. When someone is judged, it means that one or more other people have said a negative comment that is not overall a true statement and their opinion is attached to the end of the statement. The feeling of judgement makes people feel unhappy and unworthy of taking part in life. The one who is judged no longer feels included in the adventures of the roller coaster named life, but instead these people feel secluded and alone. They begin to believe there is no one to talk to that won’t manipulate something they have said or done into a completely different situation. Their quantity of life begins to overthrow the quality they had developed for themselves. Most people who are judged and feel unhappy are those who do not come from a high class in the socioeconomic structure of today’s society.
