First off, what is happiness? Happiness can be described in many different ways. The question is, is being happy all the time a good thing or a bad thing? Even though being happy or feeling happiness is a great thing , one should also feel anger or sadness ever once in a while. If one had never felt any feeling besides happiness how would one know if they were truly happy?

A feeling of sadness and anger once in a while is great because otherwise those emotions will build up and eventually one would break. After that one would break what was the use of building themselves up with happiness if the first place? Many people might think they are happy but in reality they are just faking their way through life. So to truly be happy one must feel or have different emotions other than just happiness. Just since 2004, the share of Americans who identify themselves as optimist has plummeted from 79% to 50%, according to a new Time poll. Meanwhile, more than 20% of us will suffer from a mood disorder at some point in our lifetimes and more than 30% from anxiety disorder. By the time we’re 18 years old, 11% of us have been diagnosed with depression.” These days many people don’t think about the things that can truly make them happy, they dwell on the opinions other people have on them. Also people dwell on the past and future and truly can’t appreciate what is currently happening in the present. People need to stop caring about what other people think and worry about themselves.
