Develop Competency B-1: My Analysis Of My Code Of Ethics

Summary of activities completed (minimum of 100 words): The student completed two My Code of Ethics papers. The first Code of Ethics paper was completed during the first week of class and the second code of ethics paper was completed the last week of class. The initial Code of Ethics paper described the student’s personal code of ethics and how her personal code tied into her professional code. During the course a lot was learned about ethics and the second code of ethics paper gives a more in depth look into the students professional Code of Ethics and examines the students growth and change in ideals. The second Code of Ethics paper goes into more detail as to why some of the topics mentioned in the first paper are wrong and if continuing those ideals could lead to unethical behavior.

Explanation of how artifact relates to competencies (minimum of 200 words): CACREP Competency A-2: This artifact directly relates to the A2 competency because the artifact directly relates to ethics. The My Code of Ethics paper is based on the knowledge of the American Counseling Associations Code of Ethics and all of the knowledge gained from the Ethics course. These two papers show ethical growth that the student has accomplished in the last semester. This second paper explains how the student is going to adhere to the Code of Ethics and the second paper describes a situation in which the student may experience an ethical dilemma. By bring this attitude to the forefront the student will be more aware when going into practicum and internship and therefore will be able to seek supervision sooner. In return realizing this weakness and being able to talk about it will make the student a more ethical counselor and adhere to more ethical and legal
