What are developmentally appropriate practices? Developmentally appropriate practices is used by educators and is also referred as “DAP”. DAP was created by the NAEYC for children and their families. It is designed to help and improve the education of each child between birth through the age of approximately eight years old by researching. The educators through the DAP will observe in order to then make improvement or make changes. Developmentally appropriate practices is based on the educators making decisions by taking into consideration the social surrounding of the child. By social surroundings the teacher has to know what is around the child's life who she or he is around. The educators could find the social surrounding of the child by visiting the child's home. The educators should not just analyze based on everyone in the class because that would be an inappropriate action. The educators should also consider the development of the child and what they have learned. There should be a sheet filled with the learnings of the child which includes the achievements and the weakness. From there what could the educator do to help that child improve in that specific area. Also that way the educator could keep the parents aware of the child’s improvement in schools. The educator has to have a strong bond with the parent as well as the children. The developmentally appropriate practice comes with many keys that educators can do make improvements. The educator might not be able to control the environment in the home but they can create a loving community to the child. The educators can change the way they teach based on the ways the children may learn whether by interest or preference. Education can always be enhanced and encourage to the child. The educators have to be prepared to take notes and ready to go with the curriculum. A curriculum should include the goals and the learnings that the child will gain from the
