D’Lane Having read the ‘Lord of the Flies’ by William Golding, there were scenes that described how easily power can be abused and how too much power can change a person I was really concerned as to why and how this happens. My inquisitive nature made me want to research this problem. What really stood out for me was the differences between leadership and dictatorship and how links can be made about similarities with these two totally different forms of power. My main objective was to really go in depth and find the proper definition of both Leadership and Dictatorship. There were several definitions for both Leadership and Dictatorship. This blog www.changingminds.org/explanations/power/powercorruption.html states that “A critical problem for the people is not so much how to achieve their goals – they now have the power to do this – it is to sustain their humanity and not fall into the pit of corruption. Dictatorship can be prevented but the person that needs to take initiative is the dictator themselves. As mentioned above how addiction to power is just as bad as addiction to cocaine. The dictator themselves should understand the fact that their overusing what they have, they are breaking their initial morals and beliefs. They need to be in other people’s shoes, in other people’s perspectives to understand what they are really doing is just bossing people around. The Egyptian revolution was about protestors grievances on legal and political issues. This is definitely another way that dictatorship can be put a stop to. If the lower class all join forces and arise trying to prove a point can stop dictatorship. By looking at this article it shows that a lot of people some of which putting their lives on the line to stop dictatorship. The end result of this revolution was that the Mubarak government was overthrown and even that the Prime Ministers were resigned.
