1. What does health mean to you? Health to me refers to someone’s physical and mental well-being. It is more than just the absence of any disease or illness.
People are required to make ethical decisions every day. These decisions can greatly impact their future. What is important to some people may have little or no value to others. A person with a Christian worldview would base their ethical dilemma decision on their beliefs and the instructions that God’s word provides.
I see both concepts in today 's society; however, it seems to me that the Success Gospel beliefs are shown more than Social Darwinism. This may be because people find the Success Gospel reassuring and comforting. For example, today children are told they can become whatever they want and they are encouraged to reach for their dreams. In many advertisements one can see that the majority of America today wishes the best and tries to give everyone the equality they deserve to have to be successful. As a high school student, I am pushed to go to college and get a degree where I can choose to become whatever I want to.
EVALUATION ESSAY Which two worldviews you have learned about are most at odds with one another? Why? In my opinion I feel that the two worldviews that I have learned that are most at odds with one another are Christian theism and Naturalism.
It ignored a ‘mind-body connection’. Health however, is not simply limited to biology. “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not simply the absence of disease or infirmity” as defined by the World Health Organisation. The biopsychosocial model is an absolute necessity for clinical practice - it allows physicians to treat people who have diseases and not just the diseases people have. This will give us the ability to understand people beyond their biological functioning and to view human health in its fullest context.
The debate of Naturalism versus Christian Views is a topic that garners a lot of attention, especially in scientific endeavors. Naturalism beliefs stem from the view that through scientific investigation you can discover how natural laws or forces operate in the world through evolution over time. On the other hand, Christians believe that God is in control of the universe and that He created humans with a body and a soul allowing a consciousness to be present during mental activities. When looking at this debate the questions that need to be asked is “What is a soul” and “Are thoughts and brain activity the same thing”?
Both modernism and postmodernism worldviews approach ideas from a different perspective than the Christian worldview. The divisive central point is the reason for existence. Modernism and postmodernism are humanistic in structure. The Christian worldview is based on God. Knowledge base within modernism and postmodernism relies on the human based creation, while Christian worldview rests on the teachings of the Bible.

In short, the biological model of health is mainly defined from the absence of disease, from the model that is well-matched with positive meanings in relation to balance of normal functioning. The social model health is actually a positive state of well-being and wholeness linked with however this is not mainly explained from the non-existence of disease, physical, mental impairment and illness (Gross, 2010). Overall the concepts of ill health and health are not balanced. Non-existences of disease might be part of health, however health is considered more than the “absence of disease”.
The wellness of a human being has been broken down into five sections. These sections are: emotional wellness, intellectual wellness, physical wellness, social wellness and spiritual wellness. I think my strongest section for my personal wellness is my emotion, intellect and physical wellness. However, my weakest sections are social wellness and spiritual wellness.
