Scott Fitzgerald, an author whose use of symbols is found throughout his books, would prefer the 2013 film version of the The Great Gatsby due to the reunion of Gatsby and Daisy. Nick enters the mansion and sees many elaborate people, numerous drinks and even more cigarettes. Flappers are dancing, and dates are singing. Nick enjoys the party and so does everyone else. Nick eventually meets Gatsby at the party for no more than a minute or two, which is when Gatsby asks Nick to ask Daisy to tea at Nick’s house the next day. In the 2013 version of the film J Gatsby is widely unknown and is a mysterious character with many different backstories - most false. He also doesn’t party with his guests, but instead is overseeing the party from one of the rooms in his mansion. While the 1974 version of the movie Gatsby is walking around the party and talking to people, but no one knows that it is Gatsby. In the text Gatsby watches the party from afar and doesn’t walk around the party, “The bar, where we glanced first, was crowded, but Gatsby was not there.” so I believe that Fitzgerald would prefer the 2013 version of this scene for this reason.
