The most extensively used method by the visually impaired people to read and write is the Braille system and this was devised by Louis Braille in the year 1824. Every Braille document comprises of a line of characters and each of this character is made up of raised dot patterns. Thus these techniques do not lead to an adaptive approach. Motivated by the above facts, an attempt has been made in the present work to develop an adaptive algorithm for inter-point Braille recognition using the concept of Horizontal and Vertical projection profile for Hindi Devanagari Braille. When compared to the other techniques that are debated, the experimental results show that the proposed method can provide an improved performance. This paper is divided into four sections: In section II an overview of Bharati Braille is presented. Section III discusses in detail the proposed work. Section IV presents the results and discussions. Section V, provides conclusions and directions for the future
