Dish’s 13.76 million subscribers represent approximately 12.5 % of pay-tv subscribers in the US on the previous year (Forbes.com, 2015a). The company face competition not only from other pay-tv providers, but also from companies delivering video content via the Internet to computers, televisions, and mobile devices.

Dish had substantial competition on the face of cable television companies. Cable TV has some advantages over satellite TV services. Chances to get disrupted by bad weather are much less for Cable TV services, while for satellite services it’s frequent problem. Besides, cable TV companies usually do not require long-term contract, which may be a suitable option for some customers.
