Unfortunately, numerous individuals confuse baseball and softball to be quite similar, but the two sports are extremely diverse. If one is a male, one will play baseball and if one is a female, one will play softball. Dissimilarities in baseball and softball include: pitching, the bat, and the game, but these dissimilarities are also somewhat similar. The similarities are where one could get reasonably confused with the two sports. The pitching performance is perhaps the most observable dissimilarity between baseball and softball. Baseball includes an overhand pitching when softball includes underhand pitching. In baseball, the mound is elevated and outspread to a nine-foot radius. In softball, the mound is flat and outspread to an eight-foot radius. An additional dissimilarity concerning the pitching is the home plate distance from the mound. During softball the pitching distance from the mound to the home plate is thirty-five to forty-three feet. During baseball the pitching distance from the mound to the home plate is sixty feet.
