Hobson (2014) states that by inviting people in your life that are diverse, you will find that they may challenge your assumption and make you grow as a person (Hobson). Luckily for me, my military experience has exposed me to workforce diversity, in which, Daft (2015) describes it as “a workforce made up of people with different human qualities or who belong to various cultural groups.” (p. 327). I can recall a time when I first joined the military, and my platoon received a new soldier from Haiti. His name was Saint-Jean, and he had recently joined the Army, conducted minimal language and cultural training to help him adapt to the norms of America, and ultimately, received orders and was stationed at Fort Drum, NY.
