During my four years of high school, I have interacted with many teachers. I understood as a student, a teacher’s responsibility was to push their students to reach their full potential. Some teachers were caring towards their students and others just wanted to do their job. Even though each teacher was unique in their own way, one particular teacher I admired deeply. His name is Dr. Hiawatha “Doc” Northington. During his forty years of teaching, he taught chemistry, biology, physics, algebra and calculus. In my opinion, “Doc” is a model teacher based on his abilities and personality.

When students enter his door, his ability to keep their attention focus directly on him and the subject he is teaching. He provided his students with effective lesson plan. During an entire class period the only topic discuss is the one he created. As stated in the first paragraph, he presents different materials to give students opportunity to take part. He demonstrates activities through different visual experiments making each assignment simpler to understand.
Finally, Dr. Northington provided his students with confident and patience. He created a bond with each student through understanding and passions. He devoted to make certain that students succeed their full educational ability. He created an environment where students understood his expectations of them. He provided his students with positive feedback even if the student makes a mistake. Students understand “Doc” was open-minded; he was eager to help students with any problems whether it was academic or personal. He always created equal amount of time among students. He wanted his students to prove positive behavior and morals; therefore, he only use discipline action only for students whom disobey the class
