Kristina experiences sadness and depression while being sex trafficked as her mother Elena grieves her missing, sex trafficked daughter. In Trafficked to Hell: A Trafficked Daughter’s Plight. A mother’s fight to find a young lady, Kristina falls victim to sexual trafficking and experiences intense emotions, but finds an opportunity that could end these emotions by escaping her traffickers. Kristina returns to the room she is staying in after a long night of unwilling ‘work’. As Kristina gets ready to go to sleep she writes the words ‘I want to go home - Kristina’ out of the feeling of hurt and trauma, “She spent the rest of the night staring at these few words wishing she were dead” (Flo 131). This quote demonstrates Kristina struggling with immense emotions and mental health because it gives readers an inner dialogue about how Kristina wished she were dead during her traumatic time being trafficked. Elena ended up going through a lot of what Kristina went through, including ‘falling’ for the scam and coming into the sexual trafficking world. Through this process, Elena made a lot of trustworthy friends that helped find her daughter and buy Kristina back from the brothel she was placed in. The two reunite in the end and end up back home safe and sound. Elena experiences grief throughout the book but overcomes it and gets through it by taking the initiative to find her daughter herself. Kristina and Elena go through many emotions including but not limited to grief, sadness, and depression during the time that Kristina was sex trafficked. Kristina goes through a lot of trauma and feelings of sadness, depression, and more. Although Kristina tries to escape by pleading for help from the people she sees when she is brought to the public when she has the opportunity, this attempt ends unsuccessfully. Elena grieves her lost daughter, feeling depressed and sad, much like Kristina. To overcome the never-ending grief she experienced, she decided to take matters into her own hands by going and successfully saving her daughter from her sex
