One hit can be the commencement of an abusive relationship that anyone could not expect, accept, or would have thought of being in. The adolescents are taught how to be in an affiliation, according to what they have witnessed from their friends, family, and most importantly social media. Especially when at times social media can present incidents that would be portrayed as domestic violence, and with social media being the “in” trend that our society has today. With this trend, it causes the individual of this type of abuse to assume that it is common the things that their significant other does to them or say to them, when in all reality it is not something that anyone should tolerate or have to deal with throughout their life. Dating violence can cause a person in the relationship to anticipate that they are worthless, making them judge themselves as if they are nothing and can not give anything to society, or the people around them; furthermore, can cause a person to fall into depression with suicidal thoughts and an inability to leave their partner. Leaving them in depression can cause them to have disorders, feel like an outsider, and have anxiety. For example, a boyfriend can make a comment to his girlfriend saying that she eats too much. Furthermore, the girlfriend perhaps might fall into depression, assuming that she is too fat for him. This depression can lead to her not wanting to eat causing her to get anorexia. This example, showed that, someone can get hurt, and could take what was said seriously. It could have started as a small joke, but it actually meant more than what the male thought it did. Words can mean more especially if someone is insecure about something, and didn’t take it as “joking
