Although, in today 's society disrespect is more common that is not the case for everyone. Respect is something that people have or they do not; it is mainly taught
Some law codes were specifically directed at harming your family. It is ridiculous to threaten or curse a man's family as his punishment because of what he did. What did the family do to deserve whatever it is they are being harmed by? A man's family cannot control one's actions and depending on the situation they quite frankly have nothing to do with their child's irresponsible behavior. Law 195, ¨If a son has struck his father, his hands shall be cut off.¨
From an extremely young age, children are taught the concept of respect. However, the easiest way for them to comprehend this is also the cause of a skewed understanding of the concept; a definition of regard that some believe into their adulthood. Respect can be defined and interpreted a number of ways, one of these being a deep admiration. But a saying that many associate the term respect with is, simply, “Respect your elders”. This is a lesson primarily taught to children by a society that dumbs down definitions and desires compliance.
Throughout history there have always been superior and inferior beings. This concept is demonstrated in Chronicle of a Death Foretold through Machismo. This novel is based in Columbia during the 1950's in which the culture indulges itself in a doctrine known as machismo. Machismo is a thought process revolving around men needing to be masculine. For instance in this novel the women are expected to be house wives who rear many children and are often mistreated by the men in order for them establish dominance.
This is not only disrespectful, but also dangerous. It can be dangerous because if someone were to say the wrong thing, they could have many concerning consequences. Depending on the type of authority, someone could be evicted, talked about or hurt. For example, say someone had a step-parent and the parent was a drunk. If the child were to say something that angered the parent, the parent may get violent and physically hurt the child.
Kids and young adults must honor our parents and elders, because that is the respectful thing to do. We also love our friends like how
The virtue I value most is respect because I think that it is one of the most important and most used virtues. The meaning of respect is to admire someone or something deeply, as a result of their abilities, qualities, or achievements. There are many examples of respect in the book To Kill a Mockingbird like when Jem started to hit and cut all of Mrs.Dubose’s flowers and then he ended up having to read to her for two hores every day, he later found out that she was wanting to stop being addicted to her medicine morphine before she died. When Atticus went to trial with Tom Robinson he worked very hard to try to show that Tom was innocent but the jury wasn’t convinced so Tom was convicted guilty so, when Atticus was about ready to leave all
1. Do you agree with Didion’s claim that self-respect has nothing to do with the approval of others? Yes I agree with Didion’s claim that “self-respect has nothing to do with the approval of others.” I believe if we’re only seeking approval of others then we aren’t actually respecting ourselves.
As we see in To Kill A Mockingbird this is the way Atticus raises his children. He is met with criticism and challenges but he has taught his kids well and they are growing to be wonderful, respectful, people. Many other examples are shown, such as Dill, in which the relationship between parent and child is not favorable causing a rough childhood that follows these children throughout their lives. The bringing up of a child is crucial for them to learn life lessons and with a mutual respectful relationship not only will a child learn new lessons, but the parent will as well. When raising your own children, consider if doing what is conventional is the proper method because sometimes it 's more effective to go against
The definition of honor is something that can’t be defined. When people talk about honor you may be able come up with a few things, but the definition of honor changes between people. Over time honor has changed, and throughout the world the definition of honor is skewed. All definitions have some similarities, but none are the same. All through time honor has been used in many ways to describe a man, but what honor means has changed throughout the world and throughout time.
The America I believe in is where everyone is to be respected, no matter of their religion or race. Before this country was even founded we have stood by one another through many tragic events in history. We’ve gone through many wars and even a war against ourselves. Heck, we almost had a nuclear war! The one thing that matters is that we all have gotten through it all together.
These days young people generally do not marry until their late twenties. What this means is that they have many years, perhaps as long as a decade if not longer, in which to experiment sexually. Above I’m going to discuss four sexual values or standards of behavior for singles not in committed relationships either marriage or cohabitation. Many contemporary groups, especially the conservative Christian and Islamic communities, encourage abstinence as a moral imperative.
The second part is the educational sanctions where the student can be tasked with university or community service in relation to the violation committed. If I had been given these tasks and not completed them in time, I would have run the risk of being placed on Honor Violation Probation until the tasks are completed. The professor can choose to implement a grade reduction in the course, a zero for the assignment grade, a requirement to complete extra assignments or tasks in the course, requirement to attend the Academic Integrity Development Program, placing me on Honor Violation Probation, or any combination of these penalties. I understand this is an inexcusable mistake, your faith in me righting my wrong by reworking my original paper and submitting an extra report, gives me the opportunity to learn from this experience. The professor could also have decided in his opinion if the violation shows cause that I deserve a sanction of separation from the
It is also vice versa so it is rude for parents to yell at their kids in front of their kid’s friends or their friends. When parents want to argue / punish their kid’s that’s something they should do in
As mentioned previously, a significant number of parents emphasize the use of punishment to ensure total obedience and submission of the child. Most overprotective parents discipline their child through physical punishment and only a few acknowledge the use of explaining and reasoning with the child. The following is a statement of a father and his experience and opinion in punishments: After punishment [such as spanking], we believe we should always end up reconciled, with a hug and a kiss, and the situation is over. No matter what the situation is or what the punishment is, we always love them afterward. As a matter of fact we show more love toward them after we have punished them.
