Martin Luther King’s accomplishments really solidify his place in history today. He is the legend you read about in stories, the one man who was willing to step forward even when no one else wanted to. The fact that one man can make such an impact for everyone is beyond magnificent. Martin Luther King defines what we can call a true hero to live forever in his legacy. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on Tuesday, January 15, 1929 at the family home in Atlanta, Georgia. He lived with his parents, as well as his grandparents and his two siblings, Christine and Alfred Daniel Williams King. Martin Luther king was known for stepping forward and speaking up when not many others would. He has great contributions that prove his legacy and how much of a hero he is. The king center.org states, “ in 1963, Dr. King achieved perhaps his most important accomplishment when he helped lead over 200,000 people to the Lincoln Memorial overlooking the Washington Monument. The march was organized by King and groups of civil rights, labor and religious organizations in order to gain civil and economic equality for African-Americans. It was here where King made his historic “I Have a Dream” speech which called for an end to racism. The march was crucial in helping to pass the Civil Rights Act, which outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin.” A true Hero has courage and this is exactly what courage is to push that many people to step up and march. Bravery is another hero characteristic that MLK had because during this era a lot of people were afraid so for him to be that brave and speak out shows he isn't just ordinary. He just wanted equality for everyone and if he were still alive today, the world might still have some inequalities, but looking back there has been sooooo much improvement and he would be very proud. His acceptance speech in Oslo is thought by many to be among the most powerful remarks ever delivered at the event, climaxing at one point with the oft-quoted phrase “I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant.” that quote has so much meaning behind it showing that Martin luther king was truly one of the greatest to ever
