Every person in this modern day and age had a favorite show growing up. Some it was an educational show like Dora the explorer that taught spanish, or Barney that taught the lesson of friendship. Some children however do not take as much education from shows like these, in fact children’s tv shows cause damage minds, because childrens tv shows promote unrealistic situations and negative effects. This is the reality for most children and that is what more people need to know. Tv shows blur the line between reality and imagination. Children are viewed as fun carefree young people that are off playing in their own worlds. This is a nice picture to have, but is it really what's best for our children? Children being off in their own world desensitizes them to what really happens outside of their minds and in the real world. As a said by Debbie Dragon from the parenting squad, ”A child’s extreme fantasy world might hinder their ability to deal with situations that occur in the real world.” …show more content…

It also teaches children lessons that help them to get ahead and succeed in the early years of life, and schooling. Television can teach children in the areas, of basic math, english, simple science, and even foreign languages. (Thompson) These basic skills can allow children to get ahead in their first few years of school and allow them to stay on top of lessons they have already learned from television shows. Even though the gap between the advanced and the unadvanced may not seem that big in the first few year of a child's school life, in later year it will start to make a real difference. As the children who learned the information more quickly thanks to television pull ahead in the race of academic achievement.
