1187, The Dramatic Event in Jerusalem
In the great land of Jerusalem in 1187, while the priest doing his prayers, suddenly a stunned citizen broke into the church and said ‘’ we’ve been defeated!’ Jerusalem was a holy place for several religions such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism. In the medieval age Jerusalem was held by Christianity under a realm called ‘’ the kingdom of Jerusalem ‘’ for 90 years ago until she fell by the hand of Muslims. The fallen of Jerusalem has had three important effects on the medieval age: new crusade, new European order, culture influence.
The major defeat of the Christians and losing Jerusalem was shocking to Europe. Because of that, the pope of Rome assembled a new crusade to retake Jerusalem from Muslims. All the Christians kings united, putting their conflicts away, and marched to Levant to retake Jerusalem. The war course was for the Muslims at the first time after 90 years. Several kingdoms and realm fell under the new Christian army that was marched toward Jerusalem. The war exhaustion was increased between the two sides. A lot of trade contracts and trade routes was made between Egypt and Levant. When they defeated the Christians came back to Europe, they had gained new eastern tradition, new tech from the middle east and new eastern item. The Christians learned new Islamic military tactics from their last war. Many new goods from Arabia entered Europe from merchants. The new middle east goods had great influence on Europe.
