A night out with friends or family is always fun, especially when there is a designated driver who has not had any alcoholic drinks. Everyday there are accidents that are caused by a drunk driver. Sometimes these accidents can be fatal. Some people think that one alcoholic drink does not affect them, but this is not always the case. Driving while under the influence can lead to felonies, accidents, and sometimes deaths.
Getting caught driving while under the influence can lead to felonies. These felonies can affect you for the rest of your life. If the driver of a vehicle is caught drinking by a police, then the driver will receive a DUI. DUI means driving under the influence, and this felony can cause the driver to have his or her license taken away. A DUI can also affect a person if he or she wants a job. Sometimes a person that has a DUI has a difficult time trying to get a job, or the person will not be able to get a job at all because of the DUI. Another type of felony is called a minor in possession, or MIP. This is when a person under the age of twenty-one gets caught drinking. If the driver of a car is under the age of twenty-one and is drinking, then the driver will receive an MIP as well as a DUI. All of these felonies are caused because of drinking and driving.
