Most people are aware of the immediate impact of a DUI/DWI conviction. Someone who is found guilty of a DUI will face a driver's license suspension, fines, jail time and installing an ignition interlock device. However, most people are unaware of the long-term consequences of a DUI, which can inflict more damage that affect a person's entire future. Here are some of the consequences DUI offenders may face. Background Checks A misdemeanor or felony DUI conviction shows up on a person's background check. Attending College Many colleges check a prospective student's background before admitting them to their school. A DUI conviction could cost young people their chance of attending a quality college.
