Drug testing in the workplace, is a question that comes up often. Should it peremptory be done when a person applies for a job, and would that not be a violation of a person 's rights? While applying for a job, Drug Screenings are a process which I expected. One in particular, a company called Loyal Care, they hire employee 's to care for the elderly. An employee 's job is to assist with everyday living, keeping the client in the comforts of their own home and away from an assisted living facility. By requesting a drug screen by my employer, is not a violation of my rights, rather information given that secures the rights of others. The one submitting to a drug test, can take the view of securing the rights for all of us. There comes a time, when we might need help taking care of a loved one, our children, or maybe our parents. Do you want to employ someone who has been drug tested or someone who was not? Would we want a truck driver on the road, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol? Would it be fair if an employee was injured at work due to another employee who was under the influence? Take that further and ask yourself if it would be right if an employee was taking drugs, hurt themselves at work, sued their employer for compensation? It is our responsibility to prevent such tragedies, by doing our part, thereby diverting a possible danger to innocent people. On the other hand, if you do a drug screen and see that the person has been taking drugs, then it is an opportunity to direct that person to get help, whether or not they accept is not up to us, we have secured the safety of others.
