Griffin was built to keep settlers protected from Native Americans and outlaws.
Jeff was on a mission. His mission was to gather information on the evasive rouge colonel that went by the name of Bonge Stoof. Bonge Stoof was a name that struck fear into many of the citizens of the thirteen colonies. The Pickaway Center continues to enjoy our Volunteer Opportunity at the Ross County Dog shelter. The dogs have gotten so use to us coming that they all stand waiting by their cage doors when we enter the back room. When the weather is nice we enjoy taking them for walks, playing fetch our just relaxing with them under the shade tree. We then will come in and make sure the dogs have plenty of fresh water and that their cage area has been cleaned out. Before leaving we make sure to pass out treats and give them one last hug before seeing them

Dunbar Cave State Park has been a state natural area since 1973, when Governor Winfield Dunn bought the land. The park is named after Thomas Dunbar, who was the first to settle on the 110 acre property in Clarksville, Tennessee, along with his his family, in 1784. The grounds include a visitor center, three hiking trails which are all under two miles, ranging from easy to moderate, Swan Lake and, of course, Dunbar Cave. The lake is a mere fifteen acres, so neither swimming nor boating are allowed, however it is an exceptional fishing hole.

On my visit to the Iowa State Fair in the previous summer, tasting all of the different foods, quality of the rides and the positive attitude from the carnival workers highly encourages me to come back year after year.

This was happening to the neighborhood of Wicker Park in 1871 , when the fire destroyed old wooden mansions of rich German and Scandinavian residents. The new era had occurred, when the immigrant labors rebuilt the neighborhood with brick and stone to prevent such a tragedy again. Since then, that area has filled with beautiful architecture and packed with history. This area was recognize by the city of Chicago to be one of the historical area, and people call it the “Wicker Park Historic District.”
