I can’t really say when I fell in love with math. I guess it’s a passion that’s always been there. It’s something a lot of people can’t understand. It’s applicable, logical, and (in my opinion) fun. When I walked across the stage for high school graduation, I wasn’t completely sure where I was heading with my education, but I knew it would have something to do with math. That’s how I ended up as a mathematics major at Eastern Michigan University. I’ve finally narrowed down what branch of mathematics I want to pursue: Statistics. In high school my favorite class I ever took was AP statistics, and I have fun analyzing data. I am currently taking the handful of mid-level statistic course EMU has to offer, but it doesn’t fully prepare me for the field I wish to enter. As EMU does not offer a major in statistics, I am interested in transferring to a college with a statistics program, with specialized faculty who could assist me more on my path. …show more content…
I’ve made the most of what I have, but now it’s time for me to move on to a new school that meets my needs and can help me accomplish my academic goals. I found that my best fit is the University of Michigan. By the end of this academic year, I will have taken half the statistics courses EMU has to offer. U of M offers twice as many courses in statistics, which would help me greatly. There is even a class introducing the basics of biostatistics. The medical field has always interested me, but my strength is in numbers. biostatistics would be a way to meet in the middle. In the future I hope to pursue a master's program in
