My interest in applying to Champlain College started the summer of my junior year. I was presented with an opportunity to explore careers through an educational experience called the National Summer of Transportation Institute (NSTI). We stayed on the Champlain College Campus for two weeks and I was able to explore the many careers within transportation in Vermont. During my time at NSTI I was presented several opportunities to learn about careers with transportation.I rode the Montrealer, a train in Vermont, and interacted s with local engineers. This experience enhanced my social skills because I was able to connect with students from as close as Vermont and New Hampshire to as far as Jamaica and the West Indies. I enjoyed staying on the Champlain College campus, and I am now confident that I would like to study business. …show more content…

I made plenty of new friends and while I was able to come to a conclusion that a career in transportation was not for me, I discovered that I loved the location of Champlain College. Growing up in Colchester, Vermont, Burlington is an area I visit frequently. During the summer I enjoy walking the waterfront and stopping by one of my favorite restaurants, The Burlington Bay Cafe, to buy a small chocolate creemee with rainbow sprinkles. I would enjoy going to Champlain College because it would allow me to be in an area where I feel comfortable, yet push me outside of my comfort zone.

After ruling out a career in transportation, I went back to the career options that I have always kept in mind. I remember enjoying the timed multiplication tests that my class had to take back in elementary school. As I got older, math continued to interest me. I excelled in Algebra I and Geometry. I like math because there are always techniques to help me remember how to solve certain problems, and there is always a sense of accomplishment when I find the right
