When I think about why I want to attend Montclair State University, I think about all the new experiences and the ability to further my education in the business field while also learning more about myself in the process. I’ve gone through many ups and downs in my life, and I know more change is needed for success. While also being a first-generation college student, there is a lot of pressure around the idea of being the first to go to college as well as my parents hopes that I will create a better life for myself, which is what they worked so hard for when coming to America. I made the decision to attend community college to avoid putting more financial strain on my family.I am a student of the University of Michigan. I took it as a chance to be able to work and save up for my future, which I am grateful for, but on the other hand, I was never given the true “college experience” that I always hear about. I believe that it is very important to be a part of something that will allow me to grow as an individual, all while meeting amazing people who I will get to share all these wonderful memories with. I want to also improve on everything I’ve learned so far in the business field as while Bergen Community College has expanded my knowledge, there is only so much I can learn with the courses offered there as compared to what I am capable of learning at Montclair. I also wish to be able to give my younger brother a role model to look up to in the same way my sister did for me by showing me what I can accomplish. I want to be able to get out of my comfort zone and be away from home to find out who I am, which can only truly be achieved by spending time apart from my family and on my own, to be able to mature and grow on a personal level while making connections with new people around
