We argue that leadership is often paralleled with leader development. This has sometimes given more focus on the individual and ignoring points such as social, political influences. This consequence could very well have led to in imbalance in resource allocation and more focus would go to leader as an individual and not to leadership development as a whole. Leadership development is not leader development. In order to differentiate between the two, we must distinguish between the individual, and the collective by establishing and monitoring various development goals for each category and look at what the aim of each type of development is.
