Chino Hills High ASB is a well-recognized organization not only by students and staff at CHHS, but by programs like the California Association of Student Leaders. A select group of students from Chino Hills High ASB attended a conference put on by CASL, and for the past 11 years Chino Hills High ASB has won the Outstanding Leadership Program Award. The group of students who accepted this award on behalf of the CHHS Leadership program were Caleb Andrews, Bradley Mautz, Adam Cullen, Tessa Grotz, Mitchell Matthews, Josh Stroup, Alex Ro, Tanner Schroder, Audrey Johnstone, and Gullian Dyker. At the conference this year, Adam Cullen, the ASB President for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year, was elected to be on the board for the California Association of Student Leaders as a Southern Director.
To Lead Myself In the Third Chapter of Greg Hastings’s book Leadership Lessons from West Point – “You Must Lead Yourself First” he talks about three lessons he learnt in leadership during his time as a cadet – each at a different stage in his Cadet career. His first story talks about the time he got hours for participating in a spirit mission launched by an upperclassman in his company and how it taught him to lead himself while also following the lead of others.
Leadership Pikes Peak is planning a scavenger hunt on Oct 29. PPLD will be one of the stops on the hunt. The participants will need to find a book on the hold shelf that has been placed on one of the LPP staff’s library cards. In today’s highly litigious society it is of utmost importance for an education leader to have a good understanding of rules and regulations pertaining to the field of education. Knowledge of constitutional provisions and a handle on up to date local, state and federal requirements is a must for someone in educational leadership role. The nature of the population we serve is changing continuously. Educators need to be mindful of the rights of people protected by the constitution and make an effort to develop policies designed to protect those rights.

The program at Bethel University has prepared me for a leadership role in a school system. The two dimensions of the study includes: consideration for employee and initiating structure. The consideration for the employee evaluates the needs and the required relationship of an individual. The initiating structure focus on the task and goals of the organization. The degree of each dimension influences the effectiveness and the influence of the leader to the workplace.
The leadership/teaching, mindset, and collaborative experiences in the first year Concordia doctorate program have significantly influenced my personal and professional life in a positive way. If the leadership is not effective the school will not be successful. I realize that leadership can be shared. As an administrator, I can distribute leadership to others in the school that are a part of the leadership team, such as the academic coach, counselor or lead teachers. I have learned that an administrative should always be honest, fair, trust worthy, open minded, and lead by example.
Leadership in early childhood brings out a lot of responsibilities and the need to be able to maintain quite a lot of skills.
