It began with Jesus of Nazareth over two thousand years ago, he lived among the Jewish and claimed that he was the Messiah. As time passed, Jesus through His actions, helped spread new beliefs of kindness and love to the poor and sinners.

The societies of West Africa, Europe, and North America exhibited similarities and differences in their religious beliefs, values, and government systems. These contrasts and similarities were further made apparent during European expansion across the Atlantic and the subsequent new cross cultural interactions that were created. One way in which the societies of West Africa, Europe, and North America diverged was in their belief systems. Unlike Europe and North America, West Africa gradually adopted Islam in addition to its traditional religions. Islam diffused through the trans-Saharan trade with North Africa and by the 1200’s was assimilated into the Mali and Songhai Empire.

The Middle East is a place that was the birthplace for many cultures and religions such as Christianity and Islam. As they expanded from this region, both of these religions had good impact on history. However, Christianity and Islam have their similarities in religious beliefs and their differences in expansion between the two religions. Within the time period c. 600 CE to 1250 CE and 1st century to 1000 CE Islam and Christianity began to spread around the world. The two religions spread socially and economically similar but politically different.

Religions have since shaped civilizations throughout history, deeply influencing societal norms, ethical values, and cultural practices. Among some of the many religious traditions, Hinduism and Christianity have been some of the most influential and practiced belief systems.
It is important to understand the history and culture of these two societies, as well as some important factors that went into the creation of this religion. Also this paper will explain what Christianity really is and where it came from. People played a valuable role that went into shaping this religion as well. Within these societies, there were small groups of those who helped the religion survive, despite the struggles they faced and had to overcome. There was different types of leaders throughout this process who each had their own effect on the religion as a whole.

I believe that Christianity was the first to come about in the 5th or 6th century, then Islam came about in the 7th century, it is hard to tell what information is correct and what is not because much of the information is conflicting. I do believe from all the information that I read that this piece of information was correct, the Islam people believed that if you do something wrong you pay, and the Christians were more passive and believed in forgiveness. Compare/Contrast Christianity versus Islam Religion has always been a controversial topic in the world. One may ask ‘what are the similarities and differences between Christianity and Islam?’ To answer this question, developing these two religions is necessary. Born in Palestine at the time where this part of the Middle East was occupied by the Romans and became the official religion of the Roman empire in the IV century, Christianity is a monotheistic religion (belief in one God) tracing its roots all the way back to the sects of Judaism and founded on the faith in Jesus Christ, his teachings and life. Appeared in the seventh century in Arabia under the leadership of his prophet and messenger Muhammad, Islam is an absolute monotheistic religion based on the Quran and tracing its roots back to Judaism and Christianity.
