East Penn is able to take advantage of the benefits of a centralized system of quality control and their large single site production facility. East Penn employs Six Sigma to identify and eliminate the causes of battery defects and to reduce the variability in their manufacturing processes. Six Sigma principles are incorporated into all functions, including manufacturing, distribution, accounting, design, economics, logistics, advertising, and sales. Eliminating costs and resource expenses is are the lean manufacturing techniques at East Penn. With East Penn integrating the ideas of Lean manufacturing it helps to ensure that they optimize production, safety, and environmental performance. East Penn also employs overall Equipment Effectiveness analysis to better align resources with demand, resulting in a better value proposition for our customers. East Penn also subscribes to a Total Preventative Maintenance program. Total Preventative Maintenance is a key concept that improves multiple facets of the organization, including safety, quality, production, and overall equipment effectiveness.
