Edgar Allan Poe; Master of Poetry Edgar Allan Poe is a master of telling stories about mad men and mysterious women coming back from the dead. Poe has been a well known poetry for hundreds of years. His work has been in the hands of readers looking for a read to make them hang off the edge of their seat. Edgar Allan Poe has always been seen as morbid, peculiar, and cryptic. His reputation rests mainly of the terror of his tales and his haunting lyrical poetry. Edgar Poe, born January 19, 1809 in Boston, MA. He was the son of David Poe Jr. and Elizabeth Arnold Poe. She was very in love with her. In 1842, Virginia got very sick with Tuberculosis. His mother, foster mother, and brother died of the same disease. He was very upset. Edgar’s life was coming down on him once again. Later in 1844, he moved to New York City once again and his career started to lift off the ground once again. He published a story about a balloon trip across the ocean and it became an instant hit. People went to every newsstand to read this short story. A year later, Edgar Allan Poe published The Raven. This story made him a very popular man in many households. This infamous story drew large crowds. The Raven, by far one of my favorite stories, was wrote while Virginia was sick. The story was on the horrific idea that she was going to die and he would never see her again. A man half asleep and half awake reading, thinking about his lost love. When he hears a noise, he is suddenly waken. This story is very intensifying. Edgar Allan Poe stories had meaning. Strong meanings that kept grabbing readers. The Bells, published soon after The Raven, was another one of his successful reads. This poem was about the ringing bells of the sleigh in the cold of the winter nights. Meanwhile, there are brazen alarm bells scream loudly in the night These bells convey terror, horror, and anger. Unfortunately, Edgar Allan Poe did not receive any awards. Mainly because there were no national awards given away during the later 19th century. However, there is an award that writers can receive named after the famous Edgar Allan Poe. Edgar Allan Poe is clearly the person people look up to. He worked hard to get out of the struggle he was in and worked even harder to become a man with a reputation.Edgar Allan Poe was a man who had a dark side to him.
