I often use metacommunication even if I am unaware of it. Without metacommunication, my message could easily be misunderstood. Being just in the American criminal justice system is a topic that is highly debated. Some believe the system is just, while others believe it is a flawed. The truth however, is that humans are not always right. God is the only who can practice justice in complete perfection, because humans are not perfect. Although many people in the American criminal justice system have good intentions, sadly that does not necessarily mean they are always just.

These messages enclose information, and the senders of these messages intend particular meanings to reach the receiver of the message, who will then attribute a meaning to the message. The intended meaning may be varying from the meaning attribute to the message by the receiver. This is not only due to the words was used but also by the non-verbal messages that are also sent (Fielding, 1995). Heath (1997) stated that communication occurs in various ways and at diverse levels of awareness. Barber (1993, cited in Heath, 1997) states that communication is that sharing understandings and involves openness to the enquiry of another person, having attention, perception, receptivity and empathy towards that person.

Rachel, You are absolutely correct that the information literacy requires individuals to recognize when information is needed. I think information literacy is going to be well needed as a base of life log learning theirs always going to be something new to learn or someone’s changing a policy of the process of what needs to be changed. In a criminal justice career part of using literacy would be gathering the information the right way, which I could see sometimes individuals have a difficult time with processing information that is directed to the individual.

The Criminal Justice Process involves numerous steps including but not limited to investigations, charging, discovery, plea bargaining and sentencing. Out of all the procedures I find investigations to be most important because without investigations there would be no evidence to clarify if a crime has been committed therefore there would be no need for a person to be charged. The investigation process is a very crucial step in the criminal justice process, the evidence gathered and how it is gathered can make a difference on whether a person is charged with a crime and whether they will go to trial. Each state in the United States has their own procedures when it comes to the criminal justice process but basically there are set guidelines in place to describe the process. When we look at the Federal Criminal Process we can see that the first step in the process is Investigation, an investigators duty is to investigate crime, obtain evidence and help prosecutors understand the details of a case.
In the criminal justice system, the corrections component is also responsible for the rehabilitation of the convicted individual. It is their duty to attempt to make the defendant a productive member of society once again. Based on the individual’s behavior while incarcerated, the court and corrections officials may decide to place them on parole, which ensures that the individual will comply with the rules of society once they are fully released from the system. The criminal justice system is an essential role in the organizational structure of not only the United States but also in countries around the world. If there were no criminal justice system to administer punishment, the world would be unstructured, disorganized, unjustified, cruel, and not to mention a chaotic place for it citizens.
