Have you ever been called a tomboy or a sissy. Well if you been called any of these words you have received sexism. Everyone has received sexism in one way or another even if it is not as obvious. This essay is going to talk about what is sexism,how sexism is in school,and how it sexism affects both genders.
Sexism is a big part of society whether or not people know what sexism is. Sexism is gender prejudice. Most people know that sexism affects women in a major and horrible way but they also don't know that sexism can also affect men just not as bad . Sexism can affect every one's life in a large way due to gender roles ,double standards and shaming . Shaming is when a group mentality picks on someone who does things differently for what ever reason. Shaming can lead someone to suicide because they don’t feel like they fit in but for this essay we are only going to talk about 2 types of shaming which are slut shaming and fat shaming.
Sexism is everywhere, it is even in school.I even see and hear sexism in school everywhere. I often hear guys brag about how many girls they are dating and get called a player but when a girl talks about all the guys she dated .I hear the word slut instead of player this is an example of a double standard and slut shaming. Guys are called players and the girls are called sluts which can lead girls into depression and become very suicidal from being called a slut by everyone around them because she had sex. One of the other versions of sexism I seen school is done by the faculty because if girls wear too much revealing clothes and they would distract males. This is the example of sexism because it is say that males are so stupid that they can't think when someone good looking comes in and it is also sexist to females because it's saying
