Stress and performance
There has been relatively less research looking at the specific effect of stress on performance of health professionals. Of the research, that does exist, the findings are ambiguous. Some study have shown impairment in performance under acutely stressful condition, while others have shown improvement in performance. The paucity of research as well as seemingly conflicting result, have allowed to develop somewhat naive perceptions by health professional and educator regarding the effects of stress on performance.
