My experiment is elephant toothpaste were foam shoots out of a container or glass. I chose this experiment because I thought it would be fun to see foam shoot out of a bottle. You get to mix curtain substances together to make elephant toothpaste. I thought if I get a small bottle then the most foam should be produced. The experiment is made of yeast and yeast is a single-celled fungi. The yeast contains an enzyme called catalase. A catalase works as a catalyst in this reaction. Catalase is a natural enzyme found in the liver of animals. It splits hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water. The hydrogen peroxide is a chemical compound with the formula H2O2. In its regular form, it is a colorless liquid; it is used as an oxidizer, bleaching agent and disinfectant. The hydrogen peroxide, under the right conditions, will undergo a chemical reaction to break down into oxygen and water. The dish washing detergent may contain bleach, enzymes, or rinsing aids. Some dishwashing detergents may be homemade, using ingredients such as borax, essential oil, eucalyptus oil and grated bar soap.
