Embryonic research is very fascinating. The embryos have the ability to grow almost anything, which can really advance the medical field to a whole new level. However, the research on the embryos is not federally funded and the stem cell research that was generated from it is about, as far it will go. The arguments used to fight for the research to keep going were both weak and strong. The weakest were the embryos could be experimented with before the 14-day mark because they are not human. The strongest is the embryos do not feel pain, are not a person, and can be used to help advance medical research.
Scientists have stated that before 14th day, the embryo has no human form and won’t experience any pain. This argument can be true, but the rebuttal is why the research was never approved. If it was approved to test the embryo before the 14th day mark, then this could open the option to experimenting on a fetus and so on. As the embryos start to die during the research, it becomes an unconscious act and can lead to the anesthetization of the

The neurons have to create a “sentience” to feel pain. The sentience is not even formed in the first 14 days that is why the embryo is not considered a person. Even though the human embryo doesn’t have a desire to care about what happens to itself, it is still a “Human” embryo. This argument is great, however, the argument that wins over this is that the embryo deserves respect. The embryo may not have any desires, but it has a moral value. The reason why it is protected from medical research is because it comes from a human being and it has a moral value to it. Which is why the embryos deserve respect when it comes to testing it. The way to respect an embryo is by not purposely kill it or mistreat it. An embryo can create a life and that is its purpose. The human embryo can not be bought or sold for that is considered against the law and
