Act 1 Lucentio appears with his faithful servant Tranio, and Lucentio just arrived in Padua to go to college. He’s wealthy but wants to add wisdom and virtue to his endowments. Then a fight broke out about Baptista Minola’s youngest daughter, Bianca. Two men really want to have Bianca’s hand in marriage, Hortensio and Gremio. But Baptista explains that he can’t hand his youngest daughter in marriage until his oldest daughter, Katherine is married first. He also added that he needs help looking for a schoolmaster for Bianca, so they both put their differences on hold to look for one.
