English 219 Course Reflection

At the beginning of the English 219 course I came in with knowledge and writing skills from my homeland. Throughout this course, as a class, we needed to reach 9 learning outcomes by the end of the semester. These outcomes tested our initial writing abilities and also our critical and analytic thinking. Commonly, the aim of the learning outcomes is to be able to reach certain knowledge as a result of the hard work made in every lesson of the course. As a consequence of a learning activity, the students are able to demonstrate their progress and their learning acquisition, by giving evidence of their improvement. The following learning outcomes are the ones that I best develop within the course:
Project Planning
This learning outcome aims to develop the awareness and the implementation of the following steps: planning, researching and composing technical documents.
In the first step, planning, you start thinking of gaining a through grasp of your subject, your readers and their needs. You need to ask and answer to yourself five questions that will help you to achieve your writing goal: who is going to use your document? why is this document needed?, what should the document include?, where will the document be used?, when will the document be used?, how will this document be used? I would like to quote an assignment from one of the Ejournal’s entries worked in class. “Use your VF1 Holographic Projector to receive messages to communicate with family and friends across the galaxy. Below are the steps on how safely efficiently on your VF1 Holographic Projector. System setup should be last no more than 15 minutes. Recommended year for use of the VF1 is 13 years old.” (Nina Maraboli Ejournal, set instructions analysis, February 12, 2018) This quote can answer the five questions described above.
