Unlike the other animals on the farm, Squealer was treated with more importance. “You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in spite of selfishness and privilege?”(George Orwell, 35). Squealer and other pigs of conformity have the consequence of being selfish in which their affected positively by caring for themselves, however, affected negatively because their needs are impacting other lives badly. “Milk and apples contain substances absolutely necessary to the well-being of a pig”(George Orwell, 36). Animals other than pigs on the farm are treated unjustly due to most of the food supply being distributed to pigs.
The leaders of the rebellion that led to Animal Farm having its freedom were the pigs. Over the time of their rule, the pigs changed their acts and changed laws and made Squealer lie about all of it. This relates to the theme because, throughout the story, the pigs have been in charge because they have more knowledge than the other animals. They were also really clever and could think of a way around every difficulty the farm experienced. ( Orwell 13) In the middle of the story, some crucial rules were being changed and the animals did not do anything about it. “ … pigs not only took their meals in the kitchen and used the drawing-room as a recreation room, but also slept in the beds.”
George Orwell’s Animal Farm unveils many differences in the novel and movie but still contains some similarities. To begin with, both the movie and novel shown similarities when Napoleon stole Jessie’s puppies for evil purposes. Napoleon’s took them away with the intention of turning them into his own loyal bodyguards. This foreshadows the event of him taking over as leader and getting rid of Snowball. Another similarity between the novel and the movie is shown when the pigs wore human clothes.

In addition, when Napoleon has announced that they would now engage in trade with the neighboring farms, not for commercial purposes, but to get certain materials, the animals vaguely have remembered that they were not to have any dealings with human beings, but Squealer has gone around the farm telling the animals that the rule of not having dealings with human beings has never been passed (Orwell 64). This also shows that the pigs are disobeying the seven commandments. The pigs have chosen to start trade with the other farms and humans to get essential materials, which causes the animals to raise suspicion that the pigs are disobeying the commandments. This confusion and suspicion also causes Squealer to go around and tell the animals that there has not been a written agreement or resolution to forbid the dealings with other humans and farms, which causes the animals to believe that they have dreamt about this commandment. This also shows the lies and hypocrisy of leadership in the novella because Old Major, the wisest animal on the farm himself said before the rebellion
In addition, Squealer often threatens the animals that Mr. Jones will return if they did not follow as instructed by Napoleon to manipulate the farm animals. A society is a large group of people who live together in an organized way, making decisions about how to do things and sharing the work that needs to be done, however not always is it quite as fair as such. Meaning a society that has social classes and inequality. One group featuring this is in George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm. The animals create a society that uses social class causing inequality for the lower classes through not getting the same supplies, getting lesser education, and being forced to work much harder than those of upper classes. The animals, even early on, notice that they are not receiving the same privileged supplies as the pigs.
Right after Squealer defended the pigs sleeping in the farmhouse, the pigs were given another special benefit. “...it was announced that from now on the pigs would get up an hour later in the mornings than the other animals…”(Page 62). Why can’t the other animals wake up later? This announcement proves that the pigs were given more benefits than all the other animals. Another example of this discrimination is how all the pigs and dogs have comfortable beds and enough food to feed their large community.
However, Orwell depicted, “The animals would still assemble on Sunday mornings to salute to the flag, sing Beasts of England, and receive their orders for the week; but there would be no more debates” (Orwell 54). In the past, the animals had the ability to speak out at the farm Meetings, even if they chose not to. However, now that Napoleon took this right away from them, he got to be in charge of all the decisions for the farm and no one could contradict him.
