George Orwell wrote Animal Farm to show the audience how leaders use manipulation to convince others of their righteousness. Napoleon, the tyrannic pig and central character, gained and maintained his position through both force and rhetoric. Although force was used in Animal Farm to get what the pigs wanted, rhetoric was used more often to manipulate the other animals in getting what they wanted. Squealer is the most manipulating pig in Animal Farm, he was also known as the “propaganda minister”. As time progressed the rules began to change Animal Farm.
Jones the farmer was the animal’s “leader” on Manor farm until the revolution came and Napoleon the pig took control, he renamed the farm “Animal Farm”, he gets help ruling Animal Farm with another pig; Squealer. The animals did not like being ruled by humans so they started a revolution and kicked all of the humans out. Napoleon wanted to change the farm and make it a better place but he abused the power that was given to him, and formed a dictatorship. There is also a pig named Snowball that wanted to rule
All of the animals get controlled by Squealer he doesn’t give them a say. When the animals took over animal farm they all expected to do what they wanted and not have a ruler. Squealer wants complete control and at first he doesn’t have that at first. He adventually gets complete control and takes advantage of it. He starts to make decisions without any of the other animals opinions.
In this novel written by George Orwell, we see that in the beginning that the animals had wanted a rebellion. Since Old Major’s death, Boars, such as Napoleon and Snowball, start taking the position as the Animal Farm leaders. But then Napoleon kicks Snowball out and now Napoleon is in charge along with Squealer by his side. With them present, it is clear that everything that has happened so far, the animals were better off without controlling the farm.
In the beginning of the story it's shown how the farmer is almost like a king and below him are all the animals but as the story moves on and the farmer is thrown off his farm, the pigs take control. “It was about this time that the pigs suddenly moved into the farmhouse and took up their residence there” (Orwell
There are many events in the world today and themes to compare Animal Farm to but I chose dictatorship and government control. In the book, it shows how Mr. Jones would punish the animals and how he would treat the animals badly. Later in the book, after the revolution happens, the humans are gone and the pigs are in charge. The main pig that was in charge was Napoleon, who turned into a dictator. The whole group of pigs wouldn’t educate the other animals and they wouldn’t feed them.

The book Animal Farm written by George Orwell is a political satire type of book. It's about a group of animals that overthrow the farmers to take over the farm for themselves to make their life better, but sadly it ended up being worse. The road of ruin for Animal Farm was lead by the gruesome leader Napoleon and sly Squealer. In some cases, people think it was Mr. Jones.
Who doesn’t love having power over everything? The pigs in Animal Farm were full of power, good and bad. However, having so much power can drastically change anyone’s mind. Due to the gift of intelligence, the pigs became the head of the farm immediately after the rebellion, creating rules that were to be followed, leading the animals into more work and labor than before the rebellion, purposely breaking the rules, and twisting words ever so slightly to bring back more benefits to the hypocritical pigs. Old Major, a boar too good for the troubles of Manor Farm, inspired the rebellion to the other animals.
As George Santayana wrote, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” So as the animals, of Animal Farm, began forgetting about the reign of Farmer Jones the pigs began to take control. The array of forgetful animals, on the farm, were easily manipulated by the pigs. So without much effort, the pigs took charge. The pigs were able to take control because of the animal’s lack of long-term memory.
After the revolution, the pigs slowly gain control over the course of the book, and begin to “bend the rules”, so to speak (i.e. trade). All of these personified animals have a specific role in your standard revolution. The animals start out as abused serfs, and they rebel. It is stated that all animals are equal, but the pigs appear to be rising as the new privileged class, using their literacy and clever brains to fool the other animals. Squealer, the tricky pig who could “turn black into white”, looks like any other propaganda-spreader.
They used this room to learn any new trades that they might need on the farm. This action gave the animals the impression that they were of higher status than them thus giving the pigs even more power. In any society whether it be of animals or men, the weak will always serve the
Right after Squealer defended the pigs sleeping in the farmhouse, the pigs were given another special benefit. “...it was announced that from now on the pigs would get up an hour later in the mornings than the other animals…”(Page 62). Why can’t the other animals wake up later? This announcement proves that the pigs were given more benefits than all the other animals. Another example of this discrimination is how all the pigs and dogs have comfortable beds and enough food to feed their large community.
The corruption of power in Animal Farm has gone badly. The entire pigs act like a monarch over other animals. They often corrupt in some many ways especially Napoleon and Mr. Jones that they all have different leadership except all of them are dictators. One of the things that make Farmer Jones bad is that they don’t feed the animals properly.
