The governing board conducted the second reading of the CFSD policy related to the superintendent’s job description. During the first reading of this policy on August 11, the board recommended updating some of the language, the board discussed additional revisions during the second reading, this policy will be brought back for board approval at the next board meeting.
My next step in terms of my instruction and learning is to better equip myself with different learners as well as connecting what the children are learning in ESL to what they are learning in the general classroom. I would complete this by continuing to learning how others complete this task as well as communication with others, and asking how they connect the two lessons. Another step that I would also need to take is being more confident in my ability to teach ELL students and not worry so much. I will do this by continuing to work with students in my next practicum experience, and have more confidence in myself. For my own professional growth, I would need to communicate more with others and seem more responsive instead of just listening,
While reading Deaf Again, I couldn’t help from thinking, how I would have treated Mark through elementary school and high school. I was amazed when he said that he was so used to reading people’s lips and didn’t even notice he was deaf. I know that when I try to read people’s lips without hearing their voice it is very hard. It’s crazy how we take advantage of sound in our everyday lives as human beings. I know that I could not imagine not having the ability to hear sounds of the world.
Everyone needs to struggle in order to preform better. Writing has always been a strength of mine, but I found it a challenge to move from the high school, six-paragraph essay format that I had grown accustomed to. Throught the course of this semester, I was able to acquire many different skills in ENG 1101 that have helped me transition into more complex writing. These include various writing techniques, MLA formatting, writing for purpose, convincing my arguments and finding and properly using sources. The portfolio I have submitted is comprised of three works of writing that I completed for ENG 1101 over the last three months.
As a former AP Lang student, I feel that this class has been very beneficial for me in that it has allowed me to apply the techniques and strategies I learned last year toward more relevant subjects. Having the freedom of choosing topics to write about for our various essays made this class more enjoyable than the other English classes that I have taken. AP Lang focused heavily on the techniques of writing solid essays, but instead of writing about useful topics, we analyzed the short stories provided on the exams. Writing a personal narrative essay was very helpful in my college application process and allowed me to employ the same kind of strategies that I learned in class into my college essays.
I first would like to thank you for taking time to read this letter. I am sending you this letter to discuss a few things about the Composition 110 class that I am currently enrolled in. Some of the topics that I would like to discuss is my learning, how this class is helpful for my future classes, my participation in class, my work ethic, my plans for the second half of the semester, and my goals for the next four weeks. In the paragraphs below I wish to go in further detail about these topics. I personally feel that my learning is going very well
This means that, in America, ELL students take an enormous role on public schools as this population is increasing. However, the communication fluency with the English Language brings challenges throughout their academic achievements. In fact, the article ELL Face Unique
The Process of Reflection The process of reflection is central to clinical supervision. Launer (2003) describes external and internal factors in supervision whereby clinical practice and sharing skills are external and reflection is an ‘internal conversation.’ Brunero & Stein-Parbury (2008) discussed the effects of clinical supervision in nursing staff and argued that self-reflection generates a sense of self-awareness and knowledge to the individual. Supervisees or students may be asked what happened during a clinical event, how they felt, the implications of their actions and what they would do differently if faced with the same situation.
I really appreciated this chapter because it address the problems students of lower SES deal with. While I have never been a full-time teacher in a public shcool setting, where there is a diverse mix of students, I have been apart of several education programs and witnessed the differences between students of lower and higher SES. I used to work in Harlem, NY at an afterschool program for the city so all the public school students attended and it was in a very low SES neighborhood. Although they only spend the afternoons with me I could see the learned helplessness the chapter speaks about when they would attempt to do homework. The students were asking for help and saying they could not do it before they even took their books out.
Looking back over the time and hard work that I have put into this course I realize that it was very helpful. Throughout the course, English 1002, I learned many new techniques that would help me achieve the goal of correctly writing a college level research paper. The most difficult task that I encountered during the course was writing the works cited page of the essay. It took a little time but eventually I began to understand the process. There were a few different research topics that we had to write about during the course but the most interesting to me was the community research paper.
The following reflection piece is based on an event which I experienced during my internship placement. Johns model of reflection will be used for this assignment. The reflection is based around my own personal experience with a terminally ill patient. It focuses on one main issue, providing hope for patients and how I felt about it. it also discusses my feelings, the knowledge I had, my knowledge gaps and what I learnt through literature during my reflection.
A. OBJECTIVE AND THEORETICAL BACKGROUND In this individual reflective report, I will discuss how the Consulting Project course gave me opportunities to experience, explore and evaluate the real-life business case, how it strengthen my practical business knowledge, problem solving and leadership skills, and how the learning process will support my personal development goals. To help structure my reflective report, I will apply the Kolb’s model of reflection which we learned from the LPDCM course. This model is also known as learning through experience, described through the Kolb’s Learning Cycle: Figure 1. Kolb’s Learning Cycle (Source: Kolb, 2005)
(-- removed HTML --) (-- removed HTML --) (-- removed HTML --) Love, Simon (-- removed HTML --) suffers from two main problems that probably won't stop it from being an important movie to the people for whom it's made. For those people, I speculate, it'll function as an effective movie about the struggles of being a closeted gay teenager. It'll offer hope and comfort and make them feel like they're not alone, even though that's very possible. All teenagers, at some point or another, feel that way—and it's even worse if you're not part of the majority in whatever aspect.
Thanks to my department, I had a chance to improve my English. Learning a language is a long-term process and if LAD (Language Acquisition Device) is activated, the process becomes easier. Learning a second foreign language is no that an easy process
