Is It Worth The Pain? Murder is considered a taboo within Canadian society, yet abortion is considered legal? People who commit crimes such as murder, are put through intensive trials, inevitably leading to a jail sentence. Yet, women have the choice to knowingly terminate a life that they are morally held responsible for. Many individuals do not know the variety and severity of harm women can suffer from after abortion procedures. Physical, psychological and emotional damage are all very realistic possibilities for women to experience post abortion. The predominate harm focuses on mental distress, providing statistics from Carlo V. Bellieni, and Giuseppe Buonocore's review article on abortion’s link to mental health. The increase in emotional and psychological harm takes place when women choose to abort their fetus, comparing to women who have a miscarriage, unplanned pregnancy, or a regular childbirth. Although physical damage is less severe when a fetus is aborted in early pregnancies, harm can still eventuate, but the notable damage is one that can not be physically seen.
