The 2016 Presidential Election is very interesting and definitely something to watch and look forward to. The two most known runners for the Republican Party are Donald Trump and Jeb Bush. The two most known runners for the Democratic Party are Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. In this paper, I will only focus on Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. Specifically, I will be comparing and contrasting their views on issues concerning taxes and wages. To begin with, Trump’s views on taxes and wages are quite confusing. Trump states his goals for taxes and wages but does not ever explain how he plans to achieve them. Trump says that he wants a tax relief for all Americans, especially for the middle class Americans. He says he wants to encourage a growth of jobs in the United States by imposing tariffs on other countries that the United States imports from. Unlike Trump, Sanders explains his ideas more thoroughly and explicitly states how he plans on accomplishing them. Sanders believes in encouraging job growth in the United States by government spending. He stated that he wants the government to invest money into creating jobs. Sanders has publicly stated his opposition to free-trade agreements like NAFTA, the TPP, etc. He says that these agreements encourage globalization which in turn, costs Americans jobs that could have been available in the United States. Unlike Trump and other Republicans, he has also shown his support for unions and has a history of supporting them. On the issue of wages, he continuously advocates for the minimum wage to increase to $15 per hour nationally and also advocates for equal pay among men and women. On taxes, Sanders wants to get rid of corporate loopholes and tax Wall Street speculators. He wants to increase taxes for the wealthiest in order to fund the social programs he wants to
