A lot of kids don’t have any homes and parents to love but if we let gays and lesbians adopt then kids will have loving homes and parents. With nearly 415,000 children in the U.S . Foster care systems, more help is needed. But some kids get made fun of because of their gay and lesbian parents saying horrible things about them. It makes kids lives harder. Children with homosexual parents are considerably more apt to lose a parent to death. Should gays and lesbians be able to adopt children? Gays and lesbians should be able to adopt for many reasons. The author claims that gays and lesbians need more rights. If the biological or adoptive parent becomes disabled or dies, the child's other parent cannot authorize medical care or provide health insurance or Social Security benefits(Cameron, Perrin,2002). If the parent dies then nobody can take care of him/her cause they don’t give them enough rights the child would have to go back to being an Orphan. They can’t take care of them cause the court could put charges on them. If they have the rights then the kids can be taken care of better. The author shows that gays and lesbians adopt more then heterosexual parents. Although LGBT people make up 2 to 4 percent of the U.S. adult population, Andrew Flores, a public opinion and policy fellow at the Williams Institute, said same-sex couples are about six times more likely to raise foster youth and four times more likely to raise adopted youth than heterosexual couples.(Davis,2016).
